Need Help Choosing?
Basic License
Semi-professional license that is typically used by beginner artists that want to promote their song on SoundCloud or YouTube (non-monetised) This license comes with an industry quality single WAV-track but not with tracked out files. Distribution on all major platforms and paid performances and radio airplay is limited. |
Premium License
Professional license that is the most popular among artists that are releasing their song on platforms like Spotify, iTunes or perform with the song in live (paid) performances. This license comes with high quality tracked out files which are essential for mixing songs professionally. |
Unlimited License
Professional license with no limitations on streams, plays or sales. This license is generally purchased by artists that believe their song has the potential to surpass the streaming caps of other licenses. We strongly recommend this license to artists that want to create and monetise a music video for YouTube. |
Lease or Exclusive
SHOULD I BUY A NON-EXCLUSIVE LICENSE OR AN EXCLUSIVE LICENSE?
The Difference Between Leasing and Exclusive Rights
One of the most common questions I receive from artists that are new to the beat leasing business is
"What's is the difference between purchasing a "Lease" and purchasing "Exclusive" rights to a beat?"
So me being a natural problem solver, I decided to quickly break down the differences and hopefully
answer some of those questions in this blog post.
Non-exclusive License
"I want to rap/sing over your beat for my mixtape and I don't care if other rappers rap on it"
When an artist "leases" a beat they are granted access and limited rights to a producer's instrumental for a lower rate, for a limited time period (usually a year), and or a limited amount of sales. An artist can extend the life of their lease as well as upgrade to more premium licensing options until the beat is sold exclusively. Multiple artists are also allowed to also lease and sell the same instrumental for a given time period and or until that instrumental is sold exclusively.
Leases are generally for artists looking for high quality production to add to their mixtapes, EPs, freestyles, and other promotional content. Exclusives are generally suggested for artists working on albums.
Let Beatz offers 3 Leasing Options: Mp3, WAV, and Trackouts, see our Leasing Terms for more info.
Exclusive Rights
"I want to rap/sing over your beat for my album and I want to be the LAST to buy it"
Exclusive Rights grant an artist sole ownership of the instrumental with unlimited sales. Exclusive rights guarantees that the artist will be the last individual able to purchase and sell the beat. Every exclusive purchase is bound by a contract. Exclusives are generally more expensive but are a MUST have for independent and major label artists expecting to sell a lot of units.
